With you: field notes from Quarantine
Dear ones,
All the rugs have been pulled. If you’re feeling a cocktail of fear, peace, heartbreak, hope, cabin fever, paralysis, wonder and gratitude at the ways we find to connect and crack each other up, at the buds of spring somehow opening, at the birdsong we’re hearing more of as the skies clear and the hum of our travel quiets,
I’m with you.
Cheers. (An old word meaning ‘to face head-on’)
With you, sending prayer, love, and strength to those suffering from illness or the equally exhausting fear of it.
With you, wanting to uplift those whose livelihoods are devastated.
With you, wondering how to honor the gravity and tragedy of this season, and how to make the best of it. How to grow in love, generosity, creativity.
This situation is overwhelming, and I’ve been taking some time to integrate. What a gift it’s been the serve the Weighty community at a time we didn’t know we’d need each other most. We’ve been practicing recognizing how grace is showing up on this chaos. The losses are legit. #andalsograce. I’m working on an Alter podcast of vision for this season we’re in, and meditations and movement practices to encourage (infuse-with-courage) and drop us into our hearts. Stay tuned, and message me or comment below to let me know how I can create and pray for you. For now, I made you a playlist: ‘You are Held.’
As my poet hombre Adam Zagajewski says,
‘We must praise the mutilated world.’
And as my soul friends Over the Rhine, whose music has been a balm this last revolutionary week, puts it:
Inhale love. Exhale surrender.
Go on and live your unexpected life.
Let’s leave elbow room for mystery.
love + hope,
Nicole
